The shaka is ubiquitous for Pacific islanders. We flash it to each other without giving it a thought. "Chee-Hoo!" is a Samoan cousin of "Bonzai!", "Geronimo!", "Yee-Haw" and "Leroy Jenkins!" as a battle cry and general celebratory exclamation used before, during or after a memorable event. It was popularized in 2016 Disney movie Moana, but was used around Hawaii a long before that.
