VAKA #011 - "I AM NOT A CAT"
We visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine (5000 (red) torii gates) in Kyoto, Japan. At one of the little mountain shops there were rescued cats that had become "temple cats". Throughout the amazing trip we saw Japanese felines depicted in many examples of art and design.
This cat on this t-shirt, like all outdoor cats, is not a cat, it is an apex predator demon that plays with, kills, and eats all the birds and rodents that wander onto it's mountain. This t-shirt commemorates Loki (one of our family's cats) and Japanese Temple Cats and is for those who understand that cats are not just cats.
The VAKA 100 project is making 100 neo-Hawaii t-shirts and connecting with 100 charitable organizations that promote the VAKA ideals: Love, Dream, Work, Play. A portion of the proceeds of every VAKA 100 T-shirt sold is donated to a highlighted charitable organization to support it's good work building a stronger community. So if it compels you, buy it, wear it, share it and join the VAKA life! Thank you and aloha!
The charity we are supporting with the sales of this shirt is the Hawaiian Humane Society (hawaiianhumane.org). We got our cats and dogs from there and support their mission for the humane treatment of animals and bringing human and animal companions together the right way. So, if you are down with cat demons and want to support the Hawaiian Humane Society - grab one of these "I Am Not A Cat" shirts. Thank you for supporting the VAKA 100 t-shirt project where we try to make your favorite neo-Hawaii t-shirt. This is #11 of 100. Aloha.
